Then and Now at the Whispering Pines Golf Course
Some Meadville Golf History
Whispering Pines Golf Course was designed and built in 1965 on the property of Allen “Pop” Alex, a PGA golf professional. In 1995, the course was sold to Bill Kingzett Jr. and a small group of investors, including Bill “Coach” Kingzett. Carol Kingzett is the current general manager. The course has undergone dramatic changes since 1994. More than 100,000 cubic yards of dirt were moved to construct large ponds, privacy mounds and new tee boxes. The irrigation system was expanded, as were many existing tee boxes. The clubhouse has had a complete face lift, and the interior was remodeled. Cart paths have been added, as well as a banquet facility that seats 150 and a new, remodeled maintenance facility. A fleet of 65 golf carts was purchased, and the entire grounds keeping equipment has been updated.
Yes, a lot has changed since 1965, but Whispering Pines has not changed its commitment to providing a world-class, Meadville golf facility.
