Course History

Whispering Pines Golf Course was designed and built in 1965.

In 1994, Bill Kingzett Jr. and a small group of investors, including his father, Bill “Coach” Kingzett, bought Whispering Pines. Since then, the family has transformed the grounds—adding new tees, expanding irrigation, and updating the clubhouse—but the real story is about their hands-on approach.

“Coach” earned his name leading high school football teams to state championships and spent years as an NFL official, where he learned to stay steady under pressure. He brought that same discipline back to the course. Beside him, Carol Kingzett has served as General Manager for over 30 years, keeping the daily operations running smoothly and making everyone feel welcome. Bill Jr. completes the trio, providing the vision and investment that modernized the property.

Together, the Kingzetts are the heart of the Pines. Even in his nineties, Coach still starts his mornings on a mower. For this family, ownership isn’t just a title—it’s about showing up and doing the work. At Whispering Pines, history isn't just something on the wall; it’s out on the fairways every day.
